New Member Email Template

Hello $name,

Welcome to the HackLab!

There are a bunch of things that need sorting now that you are a member. If you can reply to this email with your answers, I'll start things rolling.

DATA:

  • First name:
  • Last name:
  • Best email address to reach you:
  • Email address for mailing lists, if different:
  • Username for door log:
  • May this be posted on the (private) twitter account? [Y/N]
  • Username for wiki/blag, if different:

DUES:

Please see the [Finances] page for information on how to pay your dues.

Once you've sent me the info and paid your dues, we'll get you a keycard. Here's everything you need to know about the door system except the pin:

DOOR INFO:

There is a deadbolt as well as an electric lock. They are independent of eachother, the electric lock is attached to our database. You will need to know the PIN to unlock the deadbolt, as well as the pin for the alarm system. Remember to open the deadbolt before swiping your card.

If the alarm system goes off, don't panic! Paul and Fred will get a call. Send them a text to let them know you're there rather than a burglar. Paul is 647-896-3464, and Fred is 647-802-7249.

When arming the alarm, make sure that all windows are closed. The alarm will not arm if either door is open. If you're leaving the lab for more than a minute, turn the deadbolt; if more than 15, turn on the alarm.

RANDOM USEFUL STUFF:

The address is on the homepage at http://hacklab.to, but here it is for reference:

170a Baldwin St. Toronto, ON M5T 1L8

The phone number at the lab is 416-595-5785, but people don't always pick it up.

If you aren't already there, the lab IRC channel is #hacklabto on irc.freenode.net . If you prefer a webclient or are new to IRC, here's a link to connect: http://java.freenode.net/?channel=hacklabto

You can send messages to the LED sign from IRC with the command !sign message.

Again, welcome to the lab, and if you have any questions, please just ask!
